Ir a (to be going to), tener que (to have to), and acabar de (to have just) are frequently used expressions in Spanish that are followed by the infinitive—the form of the verb that ends in -ar, -er, or -ir. Examples: Tengo que estudiar. = I have to study. Vamos a leer. = We're going to read. Acaban de comer. They just ate. *When two verbs are side by side, conjugate the first one! Examples: Necesito estudiar. = I need to study. Debemos leer. = We should read. Deseamos comer. = We want to eat. |
